The beeswax sculpture Pietà, Millefleurs is inspired by a small terracotta statue of Mother Mary holding the body of her Son, which Michelangelo made around 1496. This small terracotta work is believed to be a model Michelangelo made as a study for his famous Pietà (1499), which is located in St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.
