This artwork explores the tensions between perpetrator and victim in the press photo that the artist bought at a photo fair in New York in 1992. The acquired photo inspired earlier work and serves as the starting point for new work under the title Pietà, A Reconsideration of the Gesture (2020-ongoing). The press photo shows the moment just after Michelangelo’s Pietà (1499) was attacked in 1972.

In Erasure of the Plot, each copy of the press photo covers certain figures with black or white planes. Every image has been reworked with correction fluid or permanent marker, which is rectifying and signifying respectively.
